American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) established in 1940, is the exclusive support arm in the United States for Magen David Adom (MDA) in Israel. Magen David Adom is Israel’s first aid and disaster relief organization which operates according to the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. AFMDA raises funds to purchase sophisticated equipment and supplies, emergency vehicles, build and construct MDA stations to support emergency medical and disaster relief.
Position Overview:
The Database Manager will manage the full process of maintaining the donor database, including policies, procedures, entry of gifts, donors and volunteer information, data entry and report generation.
Essential Job Functions:
• Create, implement and monitor policies that assure accurate recording and security of all donor and volunteer data information;
• Develop processes and procedures to manage all data entry into the database, creating standards of entry;
• Manage all aspects of database management, including data entry, assignment of any required codes, determination of data fields to be used, timely recording of gifts and volunteer activity in database, developing and implementing of procedures to detect data entry errors, reviewing and posting of all data;
• Develop reports and queries to pull required information as requested by Development and Finance departments to include bank lockbox and automatic bank deposit import reconciliations, income tracking, donor history reports, etc.;
• Respond to and/or route donor inquiries and process any donor change information in database;
• Coordinate all donor tax receipt acknowledgements with regional offices and process acknowledgements for NY office;
• Maintain and update mailing lists to be used for direct mail program, in coordination with direct mail vendor;
• Develop processes and procedures for reconciliations, de-duplications, and segmentations of the database;
• Train database users on utilizing the database as a prospect management and events management tool;
• Prepare datasets for analysis, including data cleaning, creating summary variables, conduct summary statistics, etc.;
• Set up user access and security levels to the donor database; and
• Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree required;
• A minimum of 3-5 years experience of progressive job responsibilities working with donor database and donor database management;
• Experience with database management, report generation, data analysis;
• Strong Excel and Access skills required; Crystal Reports, SQL, SharePoint experience highly preferred;
• Excellent organization skills; ability to work under tight deadlines;
• Excellent written, verbal and presentational communication skills; clarity and succinctness highly valued;
• Ability to balance the need of providing appropriate detail with need to distill key information from among a great deal of detailed information;
• Ability to gather, analyze, interpret, and summarize complex information into a coherent and accurate presentation;
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and independently;
• Strong presentation skills;
• Experience developing and implementing processes and procedures;
• Ability to work well with others and be part of a team;
• Ability to deal with confidential information discreetly, ethically, and prudently.
